I haven’t disappeared!

Where have I been, you ask?  Hawaii, for one!  We went for a week (part business for Dustin and part pleasure, as well).  It was fun in the sun, lots of running and hiking and tons of relaxation!  I got in three hikes while away!  One with the group, Manoa Falls Trail, one alone, Diamond Head, and one with Dustin, Koko Head Trail.  It was so much fun!  If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit Hawaii, I highly recommend it!  And to get to see the picturesque landscape during the summits of the hikes was just truly AWE-some!

As for our return, I was hoping to get back into my “routine.”  But I caught the stomach bug my kids had.  I took a few days off but tried to keep running.  Man, was that tough.  I was truly running on empty and vomiting after my runs.  No bueno.  The bug lasted 5 days and literally took everything out of me.  I finally got back into the swing of things today with a 10 mile treadmill run (8:47 min/mile average pace) and while I’m so pleased I did it, I have to say this nagging back pain I’ve been having is still there and with a little more vengeance.  I’ve made an orthopedic appointment for June 8th and we shall see what they say.  I fear it could be a disc issue, not sure why.

In the mean time, I really have nothing I’m training for right now.  I’m averaging about 25-30 run miles per week and lifting 2x a week.  I need to up my lift sessions.  I really want to focus on lifting more but need to be cautious with my back.  My NYC Marathon training begins later this summer and I want to have a good strong base and be healthy!  Tomorrow I’m doing legs and plan on posting a couple of my exercises!

Just wanted to give you all an update!  I’ll post later this week!

XOXO,

Jess
